Scallop Party 2022 - Sept 16 & 17

Ok fellow SeaCrafters - Time for another MacRaes gathering in beautiful Homosassa, FL. For those that have never attended, it's 2 days of fun, sun & fresh scallops and seafood. We have 10 standard rooms at $100/nite and the Gator Room (w/2 fold down Murphy beds & full kitchen) at $150/nite reserved for Sept 16 & 17. At this time, there were 10 additional rooms also available. There's a 2 nite minimum. Boat launching & parking is right next door, there is a small fee now. Docking is first come, first serve. Early intel has the scallops about quarter size, so should be good and grown for us. The rooms are reserved under McKnight, ask Wendy to give you one of those. You can reach them at 352-628-2602. Looking forward to seeing some old and new faces.

DonV 07-18-2022 07:34 PM

Well damn!!! I talked with Wendy and told her we usually stay in room 11, which is just up from the infamous Gator Room, and she tells me their booked up to room 16. Well we're next in line....room 17. Going fast. :)

Capt Terry 07-18-2022 11:13 PM

Will miss the scallop party

Was hoping to be able to make it and see folks we missed last time. However with my heart ablation scheduled late August, not sure it’s wise to plan a trip that far from the cardiac doctor. We will be thinking of you. Been feeling pretty good but wife and doc ruled out skiing until afib is resolved. Have fun!

gofastsandman 07-19-2022 06:38 PM

Good Day Lady & Gents: Wanted to update everyone - all the CSC rooms as well as the entire MacRaes are booked. I hope some of you were still able to get a room other than the 11 we reserved. I just checked and it looks like Florida Cracker has rooms and there appears to be a number of Airbnbs types in the area. Should we keep with tradition and have dinner at the Freezer Friday nite? Crumps across the river will serve you from your boat and there's Florida Cracker next door? Please chime in.

Don - are you offering your frying services?
Terry - can I put a request in for some hogfish ceviche?

NoBones 07-29-2022 06:34 PM

As usual for blondie & I, will bring 10 lbs. of jumbo fresh shrimp to steam up for an appetizer with my home made cocktail dip. For the main course will do black beans with white rice and chopped fresh Vidalia Onions !! Don will have back-up on the fry duty with Eric. Also will make my world famous tarter sauce as well for the fish. My mouth is watering already !
Always good with doing the "Freezer" on Friday night.
This will be here before we know it...
I promise not to be a stick in the mud on this gathering. Last one was tough for me as you all know.

Citrus County Boat Ramps

The boat ramp next to MacRae’s is a County ramp. You must upload the app to pay on-line and or call and and give them a credit card number. They have a camera at the ramp and if you don’t give them their $10 to launch or retrieve, you get a ticket in the mail a week later for $50.
OR you can use the private ramp at Florida Cracker to launch and give the “private sector” the $10. There is a restaurant at that resort that has both cheese grits for breakfast and collard greens for lunch on their menu, so you know who’s gettin’ my cash.

Old'sCool 08-11-2022 06:28 AM

They would be getting my $$ for those same 3 reasons.

MacRaes Update

Ladies & Gents - just spoke with Wendy at MacRaes and she informed me 5 efficiencies just opened up for our weekend. For those that might have missed out on the rooms, here's a chance to attend what I believe will be a great weekend of fish tales, beer drinking, and lots of SeaCraft stories. Rates are $150/nite with a 2 nite minimum. Open reservation, no need to mention McKnight. You can reach them at 352-628-2602. Also asked about parking. Trailer parking anywhere on the grass. The public ramp next door is $10 for a day pass - not sure what that means. Florida Cracker ramp fee is $10 and additional $10 if you wish to park on site. They have a huge parking lot. Hope to see you all there.

gofastsandman 08-20-2022 06:24 PM

Making Maine Lobstah stock today.
I throw pounds and pounds of butter in there.
French secret. Thanks Monsieur Denis.
Best pastry chef ever.

Recently thinking why not use the butter in giant popovers.
Lobstah Popovahs!

I may be onto something here.

bumpdraft 08-21-2022 12:39 PM

Ok, I’m in. Coming back from camping trip a little early. Yeah.

kmoose 08-24-2022 10:40 AM

If fish is covered, what do you want us to bring? The spicy hush puppies seemed to be popular at past gatherings if I can get some fry time in the fish oil.

Spicy Hush Puppies were very popular, but not nearly as popular as Mel!
Just don’t forget her!

Terry, our better halves are normally the only halves of us anybody cares to have. Hell, even our dogs go weeks without even acknowledging my existence.

We are really looking forward to seeing everyone and catching up.

Head Count

Ladies & Gents - we're finalizing details for the upcoming Scallop Soiree. Can I get a head count for all those attending the Saturday night fish fry? So far, Terry England has graciously donated plenty of fish, NoBones will be bringing some east coast shrimp, Kmoose is bringing his legendary hushpuppies and I'll be bringing some coleslaw and Mike's Key Lime pie. Please bring your favorite side/dessert to share. Shaping up to be another great SeaCraft weekend.

77SceptreOB 08-27-2022 04:27 PM

Teresa & I will be there (Fish fry only) and we will bring a dessert item.

Marshtackie 08-27-2022 06:41 PM
