I've never heard of anyone using an electric gun. I Just bought a Cheapo Nesco paint gun ($50 at local paint shop) and an inline screw on filter. My 545 layed on great. And I painted Awl grip with the same gun the next day and it workedreally well. IF you reduce the 545 properly it will lay on smooth as glass . But be careful, if its too thin it likes to run.

Yes it requires a compressor and unless you are planning on brushing the paint (its possible but hard) you're gong to have to use compressed air to do it. I doubt you can get the right finish with an electric gun.

What about the moisture that accumulates inside the compressor tank? Is there some type of filter I can use to remove any condensation that would find it's way into the gun?

Yeh, NAPA has moisture traps the go in line behind the gun. I like the desposible ones.
