WEIGHT ON A 23 SEACRAFT

DOES ANYONE KNOW THE WEIGHT THEY PUT ON THE OLD BROCHURES FOR THE 23 FT CENTER CONSOLE? MINE IS A 1977 THEY PROBABLY DIDN’T CHANG ANY UNTIL 1980. I HAVE CHANGED THE WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION FORWARD BY ABOUT 1 ½’ TO 2’ FOR A MORE EVENLY DISTRIBUTED BOAT. I HAVE ADDED EXTRA WEIGHT DUE TO BEEFING UP THE DECK AND CAP AND ADDING A BIGGER GAS TANK.

Fellowship, The manual/cover that I have list a 1976 23 inboard minus engine and fuel at 2650# with capacity(inboard)2278#. Dont know if that helps you but it shouldnt be far off of what you are looking for. Craig

Re: WEIGHT ON A 23 SEACRAFT

THANKS GUYS I WAS WANTING TO KNOW WHAT I AM DEALING WITH HERE ON THE WEIGHT. WILL BE BUYING A ENGINE AND PROP SOON AND I WAS A LITTLE CONCERNED ABOUT THE SCUPPERS THAT GO THROUGH THE HULL.
I GOT ANOTHER QUESTIONS FOR YOU GUYS I AM GOING WITH A 225 YAMAHA SS II 30 " I AM NEEDING TO BUY A NEW PROP AS WELL. I THINK THE 17" PITCH WOULD BE THE BEST FOR THIS BOAT. WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK.

Fellowship - I'm not a real big fan of those scuppers either, but I haven't done anything about them and they do work, and with a single 225 the stern on my 23 rides pretty high. One thing I noticed is I have to seal my splashwell livewell better so it is not always filling up, but even with it full the scuppers will drain at rest with a single.I think you're right on with the 17" wheel, I have a carbed Evinrude and I'm getting a bit over 6000 with a 15 stock alum prop - so I'm looking to get a 17" Stiletto this spring.

THANKS FOR THE COME BACK ON THE SCUPPERS AND THE PROP. I AM GOING TO CALL THE DEALER ON THE YAMAHA TODAY OR TOMORROW AND THOUGHT I MIGHT GET HIM IN THE MOOD FOR A GOOD PRICE ON A PROP TO BOOT.
