Seacraft 25

Anybody know much about the new 25's. I know they are made in the same plant as the new mako's, but that's about all I know. The new makos look like hell, but the newer seacrafts seem pretty nice. How is the ride and construction compared to older seacrafts. Reason I ask is because I'm thinking about bying a 2002 model. Am I crazy? Do they need twin 200's or are 150's enough? Thanks for any replies....

Good point about the weight ... I would go 200's!!

Jason you've not sold him on a Contender yet??

Hehehe-

Fish MV is looking at all the players, I think. I do not know where he is leaning these days.

He will probably end up with a Viking 50 or something he just has to find the time to use it.

I HAVE BEEN IN THE 25 A FEW TIMES BUT NEVER RODE IN ONE. TO ME IT SEEMS IT IS A JUST A LITTLE BIGGER INSIDE THAT THE 23’. THEY MEASURE IT FROM THE END OF THE BRACKET WHICH TAKES ALMOST 2’ OF THE OVERALL LENGTH. THE BEAM OF THE BOAT IS ABOUT 4” WIDER THEN THE 23’. I THINK THAT TAKING ALL THINGS UNDER CONSIDERATION I WOULD GO WITH THE 23’ INSTEAD. WHAT THEY NEED TO DO IS FORGET THE 25 AND BUILD A 27’ THEN YOU WOULD HAVE ENOUGH DIFFERENCES TO MAKE A NICE 2 ENGINE BOAT.

I dont know too much about that boat except ITS A SEACRAFT!!! The engine question well I guess it depends how much you want to light the water on fire!! I think you can get the 25 rigged with a single 225, which I think is a tad small as most of the 23's on this website have a 225 or 250 ... on the flip note I've seen a 23 with twin 225 on it....I think they have a G-Force meter not a speedometer on that thing
I think alot will depend on how you rig the boat out and how much stuff/people and what you're going to use it for..

Trayder whats on the Contender 2-200 ????

Also I think the 25 SeaCraft is a little heavier at around 3,600 vs 2,800 for the Contender
Yes No... (Trayder is that close???) however there is a pretty deep v on the Contender to push through the water
In my eyes....Either way, 2-150's or 2-200's, I think you'll be happy!!

Scott-

FishMV is one of my fishing buddies, Hello Ian

We have conversed many a time over what boat/power combo. IMO twin 200's the 150's are the same block so why not more HP with out more weight?

Re: Seacraft 25

Thanks for all of the replies. I like the 25 because of the integrated bracked and because it does easliy hold twin engines. The open transom on a 23 doesn't appeal to me.

In terms of Jason's (aka Trayder) Contender, I like it. I like it a lot. I've seen/taken it through some of the nastiest weather I've ever encountered and I can't say a bad thing about it. However, I also like a little more comfort than the contender offers. I really think I'm getting a Regulator 26 with the Forward Seating. It is a power house and has plenty of room for a comfotable rafting cocktail hour on the mooring.

In terms of the 150's on the Seacraft - I agree 200's would be better, but I found a used boat nicely equiped, but it has 150's. I guess I'll always want 200's so I may pass on this boat.

SO here goes, who wants to tell me I shouldn't get a regulator 26?
