Take a look at this - does anyone know the story behind Sailfish ? Did they copy the Seacraft and use the moulds? |

HA MARK G
THERE IS A MANUFACTURER OF BOATS CALLED SAILFISH THAT IS SEE AT BOAT SHOWS HERE IN SOUTH FLORIDA IT IS A NOCK OFF OF THE SEACRAFT HULL. IF THAT IS ONE THEIR BOAT IS NOT THE SAME QUALITY OF THE SEACRAFT’S (LESS MATERIAL) PLUS I HAVE HEARD THAT IF YOU HAVE ANY PROBLEMS THAT THE MANUFACTURER NEEDS TO FIX FOR GET IT. I POUNDED MY FIST ON THE SIDES OF THE HULL AND IT WAS VERY THIN ON THEIR SMALLER BOATS. FELLOW-SHIP |

Mark, yes Sailfish bought the SeaCraft 20 moulds, in the early 90s I think, but not the name. Sailfish at that time was in Havana, FL, just north of Tallahassee. I think they have moved to Cairo, GA, which is not far away. I have looked at the boats and they are pretty well finished, but I can't comment on how well built since I haven't seen inside the Sailfish and have only my 68 19 footer to compare. I do know that they have built and sold some boats to Florida Game and Fish Commission. Steve Mason
