I used Brian Stetler of Stetler Marine Surveys of Jupiter to survey a 1991 Mako 231 that I bought in Palm Beach in July and hauled back to Boston.

Since I am not from Florida, I'm not sure if Delray Beach is close to Florida, but I am sure Brian can recommend someone. He did a very thorough job with my survey.

Thanks. I actually used Brian on the survey I needed. He did me a big favor. He said the boat was not at all what it was represented to be ("a complete wreck" were his exact words as I recall), and so he aborted the survey pretty quickly after confirming that the transom, deck, and stringers were all wet and shot. He gave me a relatively comprehensive verbal report charged me a only portion of his full fee. He struck me as very knowledgeable, analytical, and objective. I would highly recommend him to anyone who needs a survey in on the central east coast of Florida...

Alex-

Glad to hear that you had already hunted down Brian Stetler and he steered you straight. Brian was actually recommended to me by Rob Scanlon a well known surveyor here in New England (who I would also recommend in a heartbeat)

Brian's survey report for my boat was extremely thorough. It was about 18 pages long and listed a few things that were broken and needed to be fixed/replaced. I then used the report as a bargaining point with the seller.
