repairs in 2004

After buying my 1970 20'cc late last March my buddy and I have learned a lot about SeaCrafts. The two possible major projects for 2004 are repowering and replacing the console.

Repowering is the easy project. I've got a tired Mercrusier 3.0. We've already taken the engine out and repaired it and put it back in. It ran for the few 2003 trips we made. But, it's tired and I'm not totally confident in its reliability (despite paying for tow insurance). Repowering is just a money issue.

The console, well the console is another problem altogether. I think the original console has been built over with panels of plastic that are now cracking to pieces. I really don't want to build a console. So, I'm looking for suggestions of places that might do a custom console or have one in stock. I live in Maryland, so someplace close by would be great.

My hatch covers are falling to pieces as well. I'm replacing them with 3/4" antiskid Starboard. I'll let you know how that works out.

Seconds on Birdsall... they make a really nice consel.... I've looked into them myself. You may be able to find a used consel with some looking around but most likely it wont be from a SeaCraft. I'm sure you could have it shipped from Florida. Also Marine Connection Liquidators http://www.classicmako.com/marinecon...onnection1.htm in Florida will ship consels.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll check on those leads. I need to take a few more measurements. the previous owner had a T top installed, which is attached to the present console. Forgot to get those measurements last time.
