74 Tsunami Deck Replacement?
Hello all - I'm looking at a 74 Tsunami with twin Chevy 250s. The engines have 50 hrs on them, rebuilt outdrives (Mercuiser), the hull/transom is in great condition... the only thing is a "spongy" deck. How big a project is it to replace it? What's a fair price to have someone do it for me?
Any help/info is GREATLY appreciated! |
Re: 74 Tsunami Deck Replacement?
Hey ya Honey Hole, do you think the whole deck needs to be replaced or just a section???? I guess what i am actually asking is exactly how much of it is soft??? Yours in wet transoms and soft decks, craig, lolol

Re: 74 Tsunami Deck Replacement?
HA HONEY HOLE
YOUR DECK IS MADE LIKE A OREO COOKIE FIBERGLASS ON THE TOP AND BOTTOM AND END CUT CORK IN THE MIDDLE. TO REPAIR THE DECK YOU REMOVE THE TOP LAYER OF GLASS REMOVE THE CORK OR WHAT’S LEFT OF IT REPLACE THE END CORK WITH PLYWOOD OR THE NEW COMPOSITE MATERIAL AND THEN REPLACE OR RE FIT THE OLD DECK. I DON’T KNOW HOW MUCH IT WOULD COST FOR A PRO TO DO IT I DID MINE MYSELF. FELLOW-SHIP |
Re: 74 Tsunami Deck Replacement?
Craig - There's 2 main areas that are soft... and they're fairly large (2 sq./ft. each). I just spoke to Lee W., and he says it's "no big deal" to replace it... I'm just a bit ignorant on that kind of thing!
