Starboard/bend ?
 

Does anyone know if I can bend starboard ??
I want to make a nice big drink Holder
(FOSTERS Anyone)Binoc.s, cell, bpr.Lil' Green GPS # BUG-book)holder
I prefer to keep starboard because of quietness,non-cracking etc.Heat?What bonds this stuff? [img]images/icons/confused.gif[/img]

Call GE Polymer @ 305-817-8786. They used to be called Commercial Plastics but were recently bought out by GE. They carry C-Teak which is the same as StarBoard, just made by GE instead. I do not think that it can be bent and it can not be glued effectively. I have heard of some stuff that West Marine may have to use to glue it but have not tried it or even looked into it. There is also a plastics house on Okeechobee Road on the east side of the Palmetto Expressway, about two mile east on the left. I can not remember the name but I think it was called Faulkner Plastics but these places keep changing names so you would have to drive over that way to find out who they are now. GE Polymers is over by the Golden Glades area.....

why not just laminate the pieces together and jigsaw out your shape.....might be easier than trying to bend the stuff

I BOUGH A DRINK HOLDER EITHER FROM BOAT OWNERS WAREHOUSE OR WEST MARINE THAT HAD BENT MATERIAL I AM NOT SURE IF IT WAS STARBOARD OR SOMEONE’S ELSE MATERIAL ANY WAY IT WAS BENT NOT CUT AND SCREWED I REALLY LIKE IN CHECK THEM OUT. OH BUY THE WAY I DON’T THINK YOU CAN LAMINATE STARBOARD OR EVEN USE 5200 ON THE STUFF DUE TO THE MATERIAL PROPERTIES OF THE STUFF. YOU WILL FIND A BUNCH OF THAT STUFF AT THE MARINE FLEA MARKET NEXT WEEK.

went to bass pro shops this afternoon and they had drink holders already made out of starboard (although maybe not exactly like you want).

Go to kingstarboard.com. They have all kinds of helpfull hints and ideas.

Hey Captn,
I have had some good success with a heat gun and patience. Get in a hurry and it will discolor. Heat it on the line you want to bend and ease it over an edge and hold it in place, it is adviseable to go just past the angle and also have someone cool it with a damp cloth or you will be there for a time while it cools.
