Rotten Transom? Cap rail repairs?

I just picked up my 18'cc today. I see by all the post on rotten transom repairs that is is a common problem. How do I check to see if mine is bad? To me it seems solid.

Has any one done any cap rail repairs? Any pictures?

I'd try & find a spot(s) inside the transom usually around the engine & bottom .Drill a small hole(several). check out the wood coming out.
Fill all the holes etc.
Trim the engine up,lock Bounce up & down. Movement ?? Thats the easy ways.
If its been 10+ years chances are !!!!!!
Good Luck !
