Removing Casting Deck

Has anyone removed the casting platform in the bow of their SeaCrafts? I was thinking of doing this on my 18 as it would be nice to have a little extra fishing room in the bow. If anyone has done this, how did you support the new deck where the platform was? I assume that you would fiberglass a few more stringers where the storage space was to support the deck. Any suggestions or thoughs on this??.... Toadfish

I would think you have more fishing area (although elevated) with the casting platform...Once you remove it, the deck at the bow would get smaller due to the gunnel and bow sloping inward to the deck.
Although, due to the smaller overall deck area on an 18', could a continuous level deck w/out platform work out better?

Beached, that is a good point..I will have to look at it more carefully and see how it will work out. I just started thinking that a little more room forward may be nice. That front platform looks to be about 2 foot across althought I haven't actually measured it..was just curious if anyone had done this....Toadfish
