23' Tsunami / windlass line capacity...

I will be installing a Horizon 600 windlass on my 23 Tsunami. It takes 1/2" line. How much line can the anchor locker fit without having it pile up and bind the windlass ? I doubt that I will ever anchor in water any deeper than 60 '( if ever ).

I would rather put more line in, because you never know.

Thx...

The anchor locker is pretty good size. I would think that 250ft wouldn't be a problem. Make sure the drop is toward the aft end of the locker, its a deeper drop and less chance of it bunching up to the top.

Alan,
You should have at LEAST "8" times the water depth available"Rode to Scope".Go for the even 500'. Binding now that could be a Problem ?

Alan,
I have 350' of 1/2" 3 strand in my locker with 15' of chain and still have room. I've never sent it all out and retrieved it under power with the windlass, however I have used over 200' with no problem. Go2marine.com has the best price I found on line and chain, even with shipping from Seattle it was near half the price I could buy locally. For the 1/2" Samson line it is .23/ft.

TT,

THAT is the kind of info I was looking for. THX. I will call them right now. It sure beats the price that West Marine charges.
