value of 23 project

What is a 23' cc t/merc I/O rough engines hull good worth? Probably will convert to bracket OB...what should I budget for conversion?

generaider,

I think Finster got a good deal. a "fair" price would be anything up to $6,000 or more, depending on the condition of the hull. If the motor and drives are viable, perhaps more.

Condition is everything.

Have either of you converted to O/B on a bracket? If so what should I budget and is twin better than single or does it run fine with one?

It really depends what you intend to use the boat for. I am setting this up with twins because I plan to use it more for offshore and I want a balls out ripass MF'er. If you plan on general purpose and nearshore fishing stick with a single and SeaTow.

As far as cost, I haven't a clue Again it depends on how far you intend to venture down this tunnel.

I PAID $4,000 FOR JUST A HULL. THE GUY WANTED $6,500 WITH TWO OLD NOT RUNNING MOTORS A JUNKY TRAILER AND A T-TOP THAT WAS BOLTED ONTO THE CENTER CONSOL INSTEAD OF THE DECK AND A LEANING POST THAT LOOKED LIKE IT WAS THE FIRST EVER MADE. I TOLD HIM TO KEEP THE JUNK I JUST WANTED THE HULL. I FELT THAT WAS A FAIR PRICE FOR MY HULL AND STILL THINK THAT IS A FAIR PRICE FOR JUST A HULL. IF HE KEEPS THE JUNK YOU DON’T HAVE TO REMOVE IT AND THEN EITHER TRY TO SELL JUNK OR THROUGH IT AWAY.

FS has a good point. I was happy to have all that crap off the boat too. Saved me the trouble of taking it off and throwing it out.

I paid $2500 for mine. It was just a bare hull no engines or hardware.

Bill, Tom here. My whitewater was a twin I/O, B-Bracket did mine. They have a template for the transom of a 23'SC. Cost was $2550 for a twin bracket, fob their shop. You will need to do some glasswork prior to the bolt-up though, I'd give you a hand.

John,
I think Finster is just jealous of the 2 pigs on your boat and feels the need to keep up with the competition . Those Joisey boys are always overcompensating for the whole "armpit of America" thing .
