Annual trip to the Keys

Well it’s time for my annually 1 week vacation to Caluse Cove in Matecumbe Key that’s in the middle keys of Florida for you guys up north will starting tomorrow. I have been really looking forward to this one. Last year I had just splashed my boat and had ½ hrs on my engine. Thank God I didn’t have any major problems just little bugs to work out and a boat that really still needed 2-3 more months to get it “Just Right”. Well now I have about 130 hrs on the girl and have done most of those little jobs that make boating a real pleasure. I will be fishing every day “weather permitting” and I must say for me this is what it’s all about fixing your boat so you can use her. I’ll give you guys a report when I get back. Oh buy the way I have already got and ready to go one case of Buds, one case of Coronas, and one 12 oz can on soda now if I can only find some bait.

Re: Annual trip to the Keys

Well I’m back to the real world again got my Keys trip done but my heart I left some ware about mile marker 75. OK here’s the fishing report 1 Sail, 4 AJ from 30 to 45 lbs, about 10 small sharks on the reef about 8 Kings mostly small and medium ones, 8 Mutton Snapper from 10-18 Lbs. 4 Grouper, and other stuff not worth typing out. We went through our Beer and had to buy some more soft drinks. What I didn’t catch was dolphin and black fin tuna which we wanted to get. We went out 3 days to 25+ miles looking and not finding them. Put about 250-300 miles on the boat and loved every moment of it. Wish I could win the lottery I think I could improve on the hook ups. I will be doing some work on the boat and then starting my night fishing trips for sword fish this summer.

No Dolphin?? No Black Fins??? Sheesh!!!!!

I have boated a Black Fin every weekend for the last three or four weeks... But, none this weekend..

Dolphin? Got some this weekend....Along with a Wahoo that almost took the rod out of my hands a few times....Gotta look for those rips....

Like Capt Brad said, Blue/White is working this year as well as the tried and true Green/Yellow, which was the case this weekend. Darn Wahoo tore up my new lure. Looks like I am getting close to calling Capt Brad for some new stuff....
