F250 or equivalent

I'm looking for an older F250 or equivalent pickup that is mechanically sound. I need something that will primarily pull the Boat (+-6500lb) and can act as a good truck to move stuff around and make trips to Home Depot.

4x4
Strong engine
Good suspension
Good brakes
Good rubber
Heavy duty hitch

Doesn't have to be the prettiest thing just mechanically sound.

If anyone knows of an old pickup, please let me know.

4-5K ballpark.

Thanks,

Rich

Rich,
You might want to look for an F150 with the 7700 option. It would save you some money and will do the job nicely. FYI, most people that have the option don't even know it and therefore, don't ask for the extra $$$ when they sell it. I found one, 2000 F150 Lariat Extended Cab 4X4 7700 and picked it up for a song, 12K.

The 7700 option came with the 10.25 rear, 5.4 liter, trans and engine oil coolers, and a different version of the automatic but, I can't remember the number at this time. Nice truck, highly recommended.....

Sorry about that Rich. Hey, at least I wasn't talking 50K like our wonderful Capt Brad was!!

Ok, so now I have the picture. FYI, maybe you should look at a GM product if you are looking at a bit of an older style truck. Not saying anything bad about an older Ford but, those twin I's have issues when you get some miles on them and the GM's are easier on the wallet to fix. Just my opinion.....
