Powdercoating an older Elec. Box
My Electronice box is showing some corrosion and I would like to have it re-done (powdercoated)
Has anyone done this before? I guess my alternative would be to sand it down and respray it with epoxy primer and topcoat, but the powdercoat route seems a longer lasting solution, and less labor intensive since I would send it out!. |
Re: Powdercoating an older Elec. Box
I was thinking the same thing. My box is a little nasty. If you take the old finish off before having it powder coated it will save you some $$. Just make sure you use TEF-GEL on the screws before assembling it back together or it will corrode again.

Re: Powdercoating an older Elec. Box
I sanded mine down then used a aluminum two part procedure to clean and strip it then primed it and painted with a two part epoxy and it still was not good enough I got a few bubbles in the corners that had the heavies corrosion. If I were you I would first sand then that aluminum cleaner stripper then put one or two coat of epoxy on it then sand smooth then primer and paint.
