Looking for Gunwale Rod Racks made of Starboard

Any suggestions as to where to buy new racks made of starboard for a 23cc or should I make my own?

Direct replacements …or just generic racks ????

If you want them to fit and match as the originals did…I’d have to say NO ….as I’ve never seen a direct replacement for what “I” have …..But there are lots of guys here replacing the racks so maybe someone knows different ….but with them matching the hull shape , bevels , overall dimensions (especially the one by the casting deck) I cant see someone making a direct replacement set for these boats

Use the old teak ones for templates ….or a few guys have found real nice alternatives to the original style…..

I found that the original stock teak rod racks with the connecting shelf where not very efficient as they were bulky, they stuck out on the deck past the gutter and caught many a toes
The rod butts remained in place but the rods would bounce out unless you secured them with bungee. I completely removed them and mounted the Tigress Polished S/S type right to the existing inner liner projections that the original racks screwed into. You can still get three on each side even thou I only did two.

The new Taco Snap Hangers are real sweet as they also are polished S/S and have a clean look as the mounting screws are hidden.

Hey Capt Chuck,

I like the stainless steel trim that you replaced the wood with, looks great!! Where did you get that trim?? Custom?? Thanks

Re: Looking for Gunwale Rod Racks made of Starboard

The trim is not S/S. It is the original 1" vinyl "teak grain" trim that I stripped and then painted with two part Signature Finish.
I would think that a stainless trim would be quite expensive and put the hurting on your knees after a few hours in the hot sun.
