Receiver hitch

I just picked an older Ford F250 that I will use to pull the boat. I need to replace the hitch. Will a class 3 hitch be enough, or should I go for the class 5? (23' CC)

Who makes a good hitch? I've been pricing Reese and Draw-Tite...

Re: Receiver hitch

Rich,
When I bought my F150 last year, I decided to go with a class 4 rated for 8,000#s just to be safe, and because the price difference over a class 3 was so minor. The way I look at it, my truck is rated to tow 7,600#s, and while I'll probably not tow that much, I wanted the hitch to be rated similar to the truck's capacity. I have a Putnam, but both Reese and Draw-Tite are good brands.

No such thing as overkill when it comes to safety! Get the higher rated hitch for a couple of $ more and have piece of mind. just my .02 Scotty.
