Thru hull drain for self bailing
 

Has anyone changed out the floor drains on a 23 sceptre. My boat has plastic two piece drains that install with 5200 or a marine adheasive. I have had to change them every couple of years or so because they start to look rough and weathered if they broke we would sink. Does anyone know what was original equipment for the self bailing drains on Seacraft boats was it brass or plastic?

It was brass. I purchased the 1" ID x 8" brass tubing through West Marine via special order. Then you need to use a special tool to flare the ends.

Thanks for the help. I just stopped at Manoney's and ordered 2each 6"x1 brass drains. They also have the flaring tool for rent for 5.00 bucks. What did you use to seal the brass to the hull? I was thinking of using marine tex. Thanks Again.

Thanks for the advice on the 5200. what would be the reasons for using the 5200 over marine-tex. The only thing that I can think of is that the 5200 will remain flexable thus allowing some movement if there is any between the floor and the hull.
