ID 1974 20' cc?

Hi Folks,

New to the site and to Seacraft. Found what I believe to be a 74 20'cc sf. HIN is SECF0420M74G. Can anyone verify the the make, model, year, etc. Looked at pics on site, boat has the lift out ice box and bilge access on either side at stern, livewell in rear, fishbox and dry storage in bow. 175 Mariner, tandom trailer. Condition looks rough (sitting outside, no cover, three inches of mud in front of transom, but could not find any serious soft spots.) The boat is sitting on a lot that has been sold and has to be moved SOON.

Any idea of what would be a good offer to purchase?

How well will my V-6 Nissan even pull that boat? I read on another site they are heavy?

Any info would be much appreciated.

Also, have pics if there is an easy way to post them.

Thanks,

Martin

Welcome Martin

You definatly have found a "Potter" built 1974 SeaCraft. Built in Princeton (Miami) Hull number 420 http://www.click-smilies.de/sammlung...smiley-002.gif
Generaly boats of that age, even if sitting, will require repair to the transom and the floor. If you can determine that she still has the original fuel tank and hoses most of the time it will need repalcing also http://www.click-smilies.de/sammlung...smiley-015.gif

Your towing issues can best be answered by other members who own 20 footers http://floridasportsman.com/art/driving.gif You might also want to browse thru some old threads on the site dealing with the many questions regarding the refurbishing process http://floridasportsman.com/art/scratch.gif

Good Luck and Enjoy!

PS Don't forget to order your Potter Built "HDS" http://www.click-smilies.de/sammlung...smiley-044.gif

I pull mine with a 2002 Nisan Xterra v-6 with no problems.
Regarding price, it depends on how the proposal came about and the read of the players. Sounds like a fire sale scenario. Offer half as much as you think they'll take and go from there. Maybe $500 to take it off their hands.

I pulled my 20' Seafari last week with a Jeep Wrangler, it did just fine but would not want to try it for a long distance, only went about a mile and a half.

I've pulled both a SeaCraft 18' and 20' from South Florida to North Carolina...and back, with Jeep Cherokee's with no problems whatsoever. Now, that was only the 18 and 20, pulling a 23' is a whole different scenario.
