Garmin 185 Feedback

New in box, Charter/Plotter/Fishfinder. Antennae and transducer included, with two or three chips for Fla. but not sure if correct chip for Carolinas. $1200 or so new, now no longer in production. $500 from a friend. Anyone have any suggestions? Old Sitex XJ-6, I believe, is not very user friendly. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

That's old technology, I wouldn't buy it.

For $500 you can get a current model GPS chartplotter from several brands.

Vezo,

That's a heck of a unit, you just need to update the chip and it's as good as any new model. Plus it's very user friendly. you send the chip to Garmin and they update to 2005. black ,white, and grey screen is good for glare. Chips cost $130 each.

Thanks Rahim. I actually passed on the unit. Thinking of going color with Garmin 178C at $745. Haven't done anything yet. Vezo, standing by.
