Seal repairs on a SeaStar cylinder?

Anyone ever replaced the seals on the engine-mounted cylinder? I recall some posts awhile ago, I have a SeaStar HC 5345 that developed a drip during our recent keys trip (also trashed the clutch/gears on a yammie lower unit, but thats another story - new one is already on the boat)

Checked the rod on the cylinder, its clean, no nicks or cuts. could it be from wear and tear?....

I had a very slow drip on my old boats SeaStar cylinder... I put up with it for a long time and then it got worse so I decide to buy the replacement cylinder kit rather then buy a whole new rig... this was a long time ago and all I can remember is that it was very easy to install and afterwards I was happy that I did not waste the money on a new one cylinder because it did fix the problem.

Customer service at SeaStar was excellent, they located a seal repair kit distributor in my area ASAP. 'bout $19.00 for the kit including a wrench to take off the end caps of the cylinder. STrick, thanks for the tip...

I think there is two ways to go on that... you can either replace just the seals or replace the whole end pieces (the round metal part) that has the seal in it. Thinking back I did the latter.... either way it should work. Good luck
