New Member!

I'd like to say hi to everyone...new member here. I have just recently been introduced to the classic SeaCraft world and was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction for info concerning the Bill Potter designed hulls and which hulls fall in this category. I am considering buying a 1983 27' center console with twin Mercruiser diesels, straight shafts. Anyone have any info on this hull?

Thanks,
FIN

Welcome Finatic!

CSY built the 23' model ONLY for approx 1 year after Potter.

Thanks for the info...much appreciated. I'll have to get the HIN and check it out! Supposing it is a Tracker built hull, what would be some things that I need to watch for??

I guess I wrote faster than I was thinking. These time lines do get confusing. I think CSY did build the 27' also anyway, check the hull ID. It will give you the year and the manfactuer
Don't know much about the 27' but I think A good marine surveyor will be a good source! Good Luck..

OK, I checked the HIN this morning: SICF70001181...so I guess this is a SeaCraft Industries hull?? Now, the fella selling it said it is a 1983, but the HIN indicates it is a 1981...any ideas on that one? Is there a HIN decoding key available, ie what does the F700011 stand for?

As far as I could dig up, Tracker purchased Seacraft in july of 87. Anybody have any confirmation on this by any chance? Everyone seems to agree on the year, but no real thoughts on the month.

I would guess the following:

SIC = SeaCraft Industries Corp
F = (the F on my Hull ID is "Superfish" model, just a sales tool)
7 = 27 footer
0001 = Hull # 1
1 = Jan
81 = 1981

or 000 is the hull number?
11 = november
81 = titled 1982 because it was built after August

Maybe the owner is mistaken about the year or the boat sat around awhile after being popped out of the mold
Anyway SeaCraft Indusdries built a good hull. They where still in Princeton http://www.click-smilies.de/sammlung...smiley-045.gif
