New member inboard vs outboard
 

I just found this forum - great place!! I have owned a 20' SeaCraft CC with Mercruiser I/O 130hp for the last 12 years. I love this boat but have an urge to go up to a 23' cc.
I am thinking of an inboard. What are the pros and cons of the inboard vs the outboards? Also 2 stroke ob vs 4stroke?

I have a 23' CC myself, and my opinion is outboard is the way to go, though I'm sure others are probably gonna be partial to the inboard. Outboards are just so much more efficient and have great power to weight. As far as 2 vs. 4 stroke, I think 90% of boaters would rather have the quiet clean fuel efficient 4's, but I have to say I'm still partial to pop a 2 stroke gives out of the hole. Not like I'm a bass fisherman who needs it, but for some odd reason it's enough to make me disregard all the great things 4's can do.

Welcome to classicseacraft.com (CSC). I have a 23CC OB. You'll find that the 23 is a much larger boat and capable of managing some big seas and bigger fish! It also holds more beer...

I, for one, prefer a 4 stroke outboard in a boat this size. It's nice to tilt that baby right out of the water. A 4 stroke is very efficient, requires only 1, maybe 2 oil and filter changes each season and can run for hours at or near wide open open throttle, if need be. Yes they are a bit heavier, but managable with a 25" transom or ideally, a flotation bracket. You can always put the 72 qt. cooler filled with beer and ice in the bow to offset the weight...

I think your choice to move up would depend on what you use your boat for. Your 20, with a closed transom is a very capable boat. Unless you are being challenged offshore, your 20 might be the best boat you can own. Or not...
