GPS antenna question
Would a GPS with an internal antenna work under a canvas Bimini top? (I'm Looking at a Garmin 276C or GPS/fishfinder combo equivalent). I've heard of problems in the woods with heavy leaves overhead, so I assume a Bimini would also be a problem, but I'm curious about what you guys think.

Re: GPS antenna question
I had a little hand held of theirs several years ago that worked fine under my top. I now have a better system with their little mushroom on the T-Top.

Re: GPS antenna question
I had an old garmin handheld mounted to the dash on a 25' Bertram with a fiberglass hardtop. It worked great and never lost signal. -Will

My father's got a Garmin GPS12 handheld mounted on the dash under the bimini and has never had a signal problem.

Re: GPS antenna question
I run a Lowrance X15 under a full canvas and have no problems losing GPS coverage. The receiver is just sitting on the dash of the console right now since the "new" console is in prep. I don't see why an internal would be any different.

I have a Gramin GPS wit a built in antenna that I transfer between my Bass Boat and my car. My car is a convertable - I can set the GPS in the front seat with the top up and it works perfectly
