rod holder angle ?

What is the rod holder angle, 15 or 30 degrees, for the original, stock marinium rod holders ?

I sat w/ a protractor the other day and could not figure out where to measure?!

Thx

I would think you would want a 30 degree angle but i could be wrong. All he ones on my sc are 30 but there not original.

The oringal ones in my 1969 are all 30 degree. I just bought some new 30 and 15 degree holders.

I usually see gunwale rod holders at 30 degrees and transom mounted and leaning post holders at 15 degrees

I agree with Roger

My originals are 30 degree as well as the new ones …

30 degrees in the gunwales, 15 in rocket launcher or “maybe” limited space mounting and 90 for storage.
I personally wouldn't trolling out of something less than 30 degrees.. especially bigger fish..The more vertical the holder, the more strain and pressure on your tackle…even 15 seems a little steep for a working rod holder.

I have to believe your holders are 30's but if you want to be sure Just flip the holder upside down , place the flat edge of the protractor on the mounting flange, align the middle (the index mark for using the protractor) of the flat edge with the front or back of the holder(tube) and see where it intersects on the arch of the protractor.

The original Marinium rod holders in my Grady are 30s.

Scott,
Is that diagram for figuring out how to cut the holes to mount the holders? I need to mount a couple more in the Seabird but I don't exactly know the best way to cut the holes.

Scott- take a piece of cardboard and make a template of the base part of the rod holder/angle and then mark your holes. pretty easy to make and works well. since the template wont be as thick as the actual glass though I use a big rasp to remove the extra material after i cut the hole( then sealed the holes before installing the holder.
