Re: HOW MCUH HP DO YOU HAVE ?
Rusty,
Welcome to CSC. I've got a 23 Sceptre running a single 225 on the stock transom, but to me 500hp would be overkill even though the boat is rated for it. You could easily get away with a pair of 150 or 175 DI 2-strokes and still get plenty of speed. |
Re: HOW MCUH HP DO YOU HAVE ?
I have twin 200 Mercury EFI's on a floatation bracket with a closed transom. It is 50-60 miles one way to the gulf stream for me, so I have a long run as well. The boat tops out over 60mph but obviously I never really run at that speed. I can cruise around 40mph around 4000-4200 rpm. I added another fuel tank and now carry about 180 gallons. I have added a twinscan flowscan but have not calibrated it properly yet. I think the 200s are more than enough. I would be happy with less power and better economy. THe boat does fly though and at times that is nice.
Good luck with the decision! CMB |
Re: HOW MCUH HP DO YOU HAVE ?
I have the 1999 25' SeaCraft.....which everyone calims to be nothing more than a 23' with a bracket. I have twin 150 OptiMax and I wish I had the 200's. I cruise at 25kts 3400rpm and get nearly 2.5 kmpg. If it's real calm I get a solid 2.5...4000rpm will get me to 30kts, but I drop down to 2.0 kmpg. I don' run it any harder than that.
