What do you say when someone asks

what boat is that? I have spent a bunch of money, time, anxiety, worry, planning, and blood re-making my 1976 23 cc and still have my 1973 20 cc also re-done. I'm starting to tell people that it is a CLASSIC SEACRAFT.
Maybe I need to come up with a name sticker using the same style type Classic SeaCraft.

I have a very difficult time saying it is a SEACRAFT associating it with the current builder. I know my 1976 is a better boat than the $80,000 boats they are trying to sell now. Yes Captn Chuck the CSC stickers are going on before Sat. but they are not big enough for people staring to see what they say!!!! There are a lot of boats on this site that are promoting the current line by saying they are SEACRAFTs.....almost like deceptive advertising

Re: What do you say when someone asks

Bill,
The way I see it, people who know what they are looking at will know what kind of boat it is. It's kind of like seeing an old 31' Bertram that has been restored. Most likely the Bertram logo is gone, but guys "in the know" are aware of a classic boat such as that and can recognize it immediately. The same goes for an old SC. Sure, it's nice to have the Potter-built stickers and even the original factory logos on the side, but I also like the mystery of it all. I like being asked "what kind of boat is that?", moreso with my Seabird because it doesn't have any markings on it whatsoever.

SCseacraft, what horsepower Verado is that you have? What are the performance numbers with it? Thanks

this all boils down to being a matter of personal preference, but nearly everyone that has commented on my boat at ramps and such have said "is that a SeaCraft?", so it's not like even leaving the stickers off really makes it all that generic. I'm going to leave all the stickers on that are in this photo:

Bill,

I've had the same thoughts. Chuck's idea to blow-up the stickers to 5 x 5 is a thought, although it may look like you're trying to brag...

On the other side, having NO stickers or logos, like Mark's image above is the ultimate. I have a 1982 Datsun that I re-painted in 1995. It came back from the paint shop without any of the badging except the round Z on the hood. EVERYBODY asked "what kind of car is that"? My answer was always "take a guess". The ones who knew didn't have to ask. It's fun.

I do like your idea of coming up with a name sticker, the same as the SeaCraft font, but says Classic SeaCraft. Why not?

Same problem Otto, the new SeaCrafts have an SC 20 Classic and SC 23 Classic.

I don't mind folks asking. I give them the date though, as in, "It's a '79 SeaCraft" I get some compliments, but the best are the nostalgic grins from guys that ran them in the 70's.

Seamaster,
It's a 250 didn't want to worry with octane.
I have only put 30 hours on the motor and those have been with a cold beer in one hand and a huge smile on my face.
I have the large smartcraft system in it so once I get my wedding behind me on the 9th I will post some #'s

How many of you guys could buy a Verado 30 running hours before you got married without sacrificing your sex life for a year? Good for you. Maybe it's like a last request - the perverbial last cigarette...
