Fastening leaning post
I am installing a new leaning post with circular bases. I can thru bolt the screws on the inside half of each base, but I cannot reach underneath to bolt the outside half because they are on the other side of (or over) the stringers. I assume I will have to use some type of self tapping screw. Is this correct way to do this?
What kind sealant should I use? If I were to use 5200, will I be able to remove the screws if need be? Thanks |
Re: Fastening leaning post
There are toggle bolts that you can use for the areas where you can't reach the underside of the deck. You should be fine using 4200 to seal the area, especially since it's above the waterline and doesn't involve a thru-hull fitting. That way you can remove the screws if need be without killing yourself on 5200.

Re: Fastening leaning post
i used 1/4"-20 s/s toggle bolts from wm when i installed mine last summer- very solid, think they cost me about 7.50 for two.
