18 power

Would a 115 suzuki 4 stroke be enough power on a 18. Does anybody have the numbers of a 115 on a 18, would it have problems getting on plan, and what would the top end be.

Ark, I had a 115 Mercury on my 85 18 ft seacraft. Top speed was 39 mph with a 17 inch SS prop. The motor was a 89 in line 6 cyl.in excellant shape. No problem getting on plane. Hope this helps. Butch

Ark, I have a DF115 on an 20' aquasport, which is a heavy boat (2300lbs dry), and I get around 38 mph WOT at 6k. It pops out of the hole nothing flat.
I think thats plenty of HP for an SC18.

Ark, my brothers 18, 1987 was powered by a Johnson 110/112/115 not sure of similar vintage and was ample. But he loves his 1995 rebuilt Johnson 150. Runs very strong alongside my 20 MA with 1999 Johnson 175. Not sure of GPS. Hope this helps. Vezo.

Re: 18 power

ark - I have a 115 mariner (merc) on my 78 18. No problem with power even loaded. My concern w/ 4strokes is the weight. I think the suzi 115 4 weighs about the same as the 140 4 if you are concerned about power.
I have never learned to troll above 40....
