Mercury Break In Help

I bought 1997 rebuilt mercury 115 with only 9 hours on it. Before I take it out do I need to put 20 hrs on it before going above 4500 RPM? Also should I use mixed fuel, I've heard of this with new engines? If you have any other advice for breaking in this motor please let me know. Thanks.

Is it under any sort of warrantee?

I have had a couple of engines rebuilt and here is what i was told to do.

1. Disconnect the VRO (and do a straight mix). This was a condition for my warrantee. If you have the VRO hooked up i would probably leave it.
2. For the first 10 hours double up on the oil.
3. For the first hour just idle the engine at the dock.
4. For hours 2 through 10 stay at 3,500 RPM's or under.

At the end of the break in I changed the plugs because of the rich oil mix.

Good luck.
For the first 10 hours

The only thing I would add to that is run the engine at a lot of different RPMs during that 10 hour period.
