1998 23' CC anchor rode locker

I have trouble getting the anchor line into or out of the rope locker in my 1998 23' CC. Does anyone else have this problem ? My anchor line is quite stiff and tends to bunch up in the locker, making it nearly impossible to pull it out without crawling below decks and hand feeding it. Would a softer, more pliable line solve this glitch? Any advice would be appreciated.

Yes, obviously a softer type of rope would be better. What kind do you have? Perhaps washing the roap in a tub filled with tide then rinsing and letting it soak with fabric softner would do the trick. I know it does wonders for my castnets.

Yep, Fabric softner we put our new cast net's in it to limber them up too.

I have an orange shrimp basket that I keep the anchor line in. I usually have it on the raised deck as far up to the bow as possible and it's tied to the hand rail with a short piece of rope. In the picture above, my wife put the basket on the gunnel so she could lay on the deck. But I just wanted to give you a visual of what I use. It's a lot easier than trying to push it down.

Oh...I have 600ft of line. Most of it is under the deck and what I normally use is coiled up in the basket. If I need more line, it just runs out of the basket and starts feeding from down below. When I pull anchor, everything just goes back into the basket.

That makes a lot of sense, Luis. And 600' of anchor line is a lot of line. Thanks for the tip.
