Propeller options and weight of my 76 SeaCraft
 

Hi, I am new to this forum. I'd like to know how to find the weight of my 1976 23'6" SeaCraft so I can choose the proper prop. I have a 14 3/4 x 19 with a 1999 200 Johnson, and it only turns 4900 when it should turn about 5300. Thanks for any help. I plan to add some photos of my new boat soon. -- Jay.

A 15" prop should do it. You want to run
that motor loose, say 5500 rpm.

Something is not kosher here. Are you running a aluminum or a SS prop [img]/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img] I was running 14 3/4 x 17 many years ago on a 200hp Johnson on my 23'. I was hitting around 5500 at WOT. When I repowered to a 222hp Johnson I switched to a 14 3/4 x 19 Viper SS. I am now using the same prop on my 1999 250hp Johnson. I'm topping out at 5800 WOT.

Thank you.It is a ss viper prop. Do you think a 17 will make that big of a difference? I hope I dont have motor problems.

I'm running a 17 pitch on my 200 Yamaha, which is on a 23 Sceptre. My RPM's are 5500 trimmed out to just before the prop starts to cavitate. I would think that a 17 would be perfect in your application.

Boy did I make a mistake [img]/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img] I am turning a 14 3/4 x 17 prop. It was the 19" that was on my 200hp. Sorry for mis leading you. Sometimes your repair shop will lend you different props to try out before you purchase [img]/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]

76dream,
Dropping 2 inches of pitch should give you another 200-300 rpm on the top end.

How do you determine the pitch of a prop?

What should my RPM's be at WOT for my 250 hp?

Paul,
Your prop should be stamped with the diameter and pitch, something like 15X19. If you have an aftermarket prop with just a part #, ask the mfg for the specs.

Not sure about your engine's operating range, but I would think 5300-5600 rpm.
