Consensus on installing a bracket on the 20 cc

What is the consensus on installing a bracket to the 20'cc's? I hate the cutout in the transom for the motor they have very little freeboard as it is blocking that up and installing a bracket would be great!!

want2fish, This was a big decision for me while restoring my 20. I was talked out of it on the 20. They sit heavy in the rear & adding the weight further back would not help(even flotation bracketts). It changes the whole dangle to the angle.pivot of ride.Backing down on That Grander offshore would be the scary either way it's done. I still think the look is Great. 23' on the other hand it's the only way to go. Their are a few out there that have the set up & love it. I just could'nt find any at My time of restoration. Have Fun with this one.

I considered it as have others who have redone their 20's. I opted to raise the floor 2.5" and go with the notched transom. My decision was NOT based on expense, as I spent more on a 20' redo than it would have cost to go to the dealer and buy a new 2005 20' SeaCraft. Were I to do it over again, I wouldn't do things any differently.

For my 2 cents:
I made an offer on one that had the bracket. After all considerations I did not buy that boat and that was one of the resons. Ikan pointed out (correctly) that aesthetically it just doesn't fit. 1/3 bracket, 2/3s boat. You have to admit that the lines of these boats is one of the primary reasons we love them.

Here's a 20 with a bracket. Not bad looking either. It does sit low in the water while at rest though.
