Inboard?
 

I like the look of a inboard but never owned one. Do you guys like the inboard on a 23 Seacraft?

I have one and the ride is great, it is slower than a I/O and requires a little extra work docking until you get use to it. The speed I'm talking about is top end, I run the same RPM as the I/O a friend has, we both can run 3100 and be doing around 27. The transom is wide open for fishing on the inboard and only open on the sides of the I/O. The ride on mine is somewhat different but both ride great!

The inboards are great and give an excellent ride and are great to fish from, but they aren't speedsters. I cruise at 22-24 knots at around 3400 RPM with a brand new 350. As knot working mentioned they can be challenging at the dock. I increased the rudder size for better tracking in reverse and actually enjoy the challenges of docking a single screw inboard.

There's not a huge call in the market for small center console straight inboards and not many makers that produce them. They ride and run differently from an outboard boat and I would suggest hitching a ride on one before purchasing. I have a Wellcraft center console that's much faster that I take out on smooth days if I am fishing a far distance, but if there's gonna be be a decent chop I take the Seacraft.

Are you talking Knots or MPH, I also have a new 350, 315 HP, and I'm talking MPH and I can also turn wide thottle a good 4600 RPM @ 37 MPH. These motors must turn up max RPM for everythig to function correctly or it's like running in a lower gear.

Knot working, I am talking knots and I also turn up to 4600-4700 on top RPM. Where I fish in Vineyard Sound there's usually a pretty good current running and will effect cruise speed by 1-3 knots either way. All my speed numbers are on the GPS.
