While looking at the SC owners list.I see very few 18ft CC
why do you suppose that is? Are they less popular, not as good a boat or were there just fewer made. I am buying one and am curious.

Dick_od ~~I think probably demand & location.In the area they were built(down here) The 20's were good for the bay & running offshore,running to the Bahamas , keys , gulf etc.calm-moderate.Still able to handle the chops & Quick storms.23' was made for the Heavy /Hard fishing offshore-both sides .weather - Who cares !.There are Bou' cou' Flats fishermen/gals left out~ so the 18' helped get them as close to the action as a VDH could.Plus they make the perfect Keys hopper,There are a lot of lil' key's out here(unihabited ) that COULD be visited as a private getaway's-Back then.One of the reasons I picked the 20' was versatility of the area. Use it all.Still quite a few 18's down here,and You can see them far far out even the Bahamas at times.
Mosley & Potter probably never eXpected them to make it as far North as they've gotten- [img]/images/graemlins/crazy.gif[/img]-The water is deeper off the beach so thats a reason most are 20's & 23's.Don't let that 18' fool Ya it'll go against any Larger mfg's models. anywhere! Send Pic's!

I have had an 18 for 4 years and been through the Keys, Jupiter Inlet, Palm Beach Inlet, many miles offshore. I like the phrase pocket rocket-the 18 is no different in quality or ride than what you would expect in a SeaCraft. I think there are fewer 18's out there built by all Companies, Potter-Tracker. Tracker Marine didn't bring back the 18 because the profits are not in the boats under 20 ft.. My .02

I have to agree about the profitability of the 18' vs 20'. Same labor just a little more glass and resin.(back when they were relativly cheap) Performance being about equal the 20 offers more room and can probably fish almost as well inshore as the 18. Tarpun
