Dead rise at transducer
 

I am getting a new fishfinder and transducer, I spoke with the person who will be installing and they said to find out what the dead rise is at the location of the transducer. I was wondering how this is done. Any info would be great. Thanks in advance

Are you talking about a thru hull tranducer or a transom mounted transducer?

I believe that the variable deadrise on the transom is 20.5 degrees.

Yeah, sorry. I meant the thru hull. I know it will vary depending on where the thru hull is. Just wondering how to measure it.

20.5 degrees is the average of all 3 running surfaces, so each panel is different.

According to the Moesly patent, the panels are 21, 13 and 10 degrees, but that was for his original hull which was a 21'. This also doesn't come out to an average of 20.5 degrees. The 23' might have slighlty different angles to it. If nobody here knows the angles for certain, you may want to use one of those tools used for transferring an angle and get the proper measurement. Or, use Capt Chuck's proven method of mounting in the keel, that way you don't need any angle and the 'ducer will be as deep in the water as possible.

FWIW, the deadrise angle of the bottom panel on my 20 is 17^, measured about 1" in from the edge of the transom.
