Spring Cleaning
OK, looks like the old 1978 23 Footer is ready to be launched next weekend at Leonardo State Marina (near Sandy Hook, NJ).
Thank everyone for all of the frienly "how to" advice over the past 2 months. Peter Here is a punch list of the items just completed, alone with some pictures 1. Engine work (new fuel filter separators, new water pumps & overall tune up) 2. Cut out a couple pieces of teak for the rear fish boxes, and used cetol marine light & gloss. Also, used bass cabinet knobs. [image]http://www.myfishpix.com/gallery/data/500/picture5.jpg[/image] 3. Used Cetol on all of the teak. Other than being a little orangy, I think that it came out looking pretty good. [image]http://www.myfishpix.com/gallery/data/500/picture4.jpg[/image] 3. Switched our batteries & cleaned up connections. 4. Installed new Shakespeare 5225XT VHF antenna (see pictures of electroc box setup) [image]http://www.myfishpix.com/gallery/data/500/picture6.jpg[/image] [image]img]http://www.myfishpix.com/gallery/data/500/picture6.jpg[/img][/image] [image]img]http://www.myfishpix.com/gallery/data/500/picture6.jpg[/img][/image] [image]http://www.myfishpix.com/gallery/data/500/picture1.jpg[/image] 5. Used Interlux Micron Extra (blue) bottom paint this year, as opposed to the cheapo Sea Bowld. The Interlux cost about twice as much, but hopefully will do a better job. 6. Installed a new Bennet actuator & trim plate. I mention this because I also used G-10 to help mkae this setup solid, and I leared about this material on this very web site. 7. I did a bunch of other misc things. Here are a couple of other misc. pictures. Re: Spring Cleaning
Thanks Capt. Chuck,
99% of the cosmetic things that I have done, I have picked up from fellow members like you. I mean it. Either I look at the great pictures of the work others have done and that inspires me, or I great advice whenever I post any of my simple minded questions. Thanks again. |

Re: Spring Cleaning
Just put my boat in the water today (Leonardo State Marine, NJ). Spent several hours getting the dock lines just right. Took the boat for a quick spin and it ran like a top. WhenI went to hose her down at the end, no water came out. I was told that the fresh water hookup will not be turned on until April 10.
