20\" or 25\" transom

I have a 200 mariner with a 20" shaft that needs to be installed on my 1972 seacraft sf cc. It currently has a rebuilt 20" transom will this work correctly for me. Should I invest in a jackplate while it is being rebuilt????
Thanks
Ryan

Re: 20\" or 25\" transom

Should I enclose the transom and get a bracket. Does this improve the performance. Should I get a jackplate. What do most people do with this size boat.
Thanks
Ryan
