Windlass / Anchor Roller mounting
 

I mounted a windlass / anchor roller (3) years ago and it works like a charm. It is a Windline anchor roller w/ a cantilever for quick anchor drop ( a model that is not commonly advertised anywhere ).

I mounted under the deck, (2) 3/4" pcs of plywood that are larger than the 'footprint' of the roller and the windlass, for add'l support. It is strong. There are (3) thru bolts that hold the anchor roller to the deck; (1) forward and (2) aft.

However, I noticed that when upward pressure was used - like when the windlass pulls the anchor up and drives it home, the anchor roller could lift a bit off the deck, slightly more than a 1/16". This was done using my own body strength. I looked at it for awhile and came to the conclusion that the bolts are all very solidly mounted, it's just that the deck of the boat might have a little pitch from side to side and the anchor roller is able to 'twist' a little because there is only that (1) bolt holding it down in the front.

Sorry for this being so wordy. I was thinking to shim each side of the anchor roler to avoid this. Anyone have an opinion on how this could be done ( Hopefully without removing the roller - it's a b*tch working in the anchor locker ). I was thinking of injecting thickened epoxy on each side to level it out ...

I think a picture would help. I've got a pulpit w/ anchor chute myself, though no windlass (yet), but can't visualise what the issue is.

Unstead of injesting epoxy. I'd bed it in some 4200.

4200 ? I think that will possibly seal the joint, but not get rid of the movement. And, I want there to be no movement at all.

I had put fresh LifeCaulk around the base of the anchor roller/deck joint last season and the sealant pulled away due to the movement.. Actually, the gap in the caulk is what made me look at it and notice the slight movement.
