Hull Number Decoding

Hi--I have what I have been told is a 1979 24-ft CC inboard, but I have seen a few posts re hull #s that make me stop and say, "Hmmmm?"

The hull # is SEC630061276. Can anyone tell me what year she is? The title says "1979."

Thanks--

Re: Hull Number Decoding

The last 4 digits tell you the month & year the boat was built - December 1976. It could be designated a '79 because it was not sold/delivered/titled to the original owner until 1979, but it is actually a model year 1977 since it was built after August. Confused yet? ;)

SEC - manufacturer
63 - model designation
006 - hull #
12 - month
76 - year

P.S. welcome to the site. :D

1977? Well, that's OK! Thanks for the info! Now to convince the NC boat-title people of that!

another quick question on the hull #, is that the number of them that were built since that model was introduced? I would think that, meaning this fellow has the 6th hull of that model ever built.

I believe # 6 that year.

What does #23036 on an alumnum foil tag on the inside cover of the glove box mean? The registration says 73.

EggSuckinDog,
scothawk55 is correct, it's the 6th boat of that model line built that year.

stoney,
No idea what the foil stamp is. Your HIN should be on the upper righthand corner of your transom.

WWP2,
Yes, you have a '78 23' Superfisherman. The model designation doesn't delineate between OB or I/O. You're missing 1 digit in the HIN, it should be 12 characters long.
SEC - SeaCraft
F3 - 23' Superfisherman (CC)
06X - hull # (you're missing a number)
04 - April
78 - 1978

Stoney, prior to '73 hull transoms were not stamped with HIN's. The foil plate is all you have. -PF

Mine says 1969 on the title and has a 3 digit number, 936. Any idea what this means?
