Rod holder angles???

I want to replace the original 4 rod holders in the gunwales but not sure what angle to buy. The two closest to the transom should be 15, 30 or 45 degree? Then what about the two forward? What if I want to add two more forward of those?

Re: Rod holder angles???

Most gunnel mounted rod holders, either close to the transom or forward angled out for the outriggers, are 30 degrees. Rocket launchers, behind the seat, are generally at 15*, as not to become in the way walking behind and underneath. The ones mounted on my enclosed transom are also 15 degrees. I have seen some SKA boats with 15* ones up on the bow for multiple rods being fished. ;)

To follow up on Chucks post, I have 15 degree rod holders up front, forward of the console adjacent to the step in the deck. Dink

Hey Wavelength, I have 4 SS rod holders that I believe are 15 degrees I took of my Seafari. I was going to sell them on e-bay or use them for trade at a Don's a local boat salvage for fuel hose. Their in great shape, and are only about a year old with little use. I can save you some money, and me some time. I'll give them to you for $10 a piece. If your interested let me know. I can even e-mail you picks.

I'll let you know I may have two of the old ones that would work. I ordered 4 from World Cat, I do some consulting for them and got them cheap.
