boat hauling FL to MA
 

Has anyone had a boat hauled from Fl to MA lately and know what the approximate cost has been? I know it used to be around 1.50 a foot per mile but I am curious to know how much the price has increased due to fuel costs.

The boat broker in Alabama I was talking to about the '88 23'/24' SC told me: "They're getting close to $3.00 per mile for haul'n...".

(Seems pretty steep to me, but I assume that was a just "special" rate for yankees..... [img]/forum/images/graemlins/tongue.gif[/img] )

At that rate, having the 23' SC hauled the 1500 miles to the Cape would cost me $4500. I get 12 to 13 MPG in my Silverado 2500 with nothing in tow. I figured that a round trip would run me $900 to a grand in fuel costs if I were to go down and pick up the boat up myself....

Another option is to fly down and rent a Chevy Trailblazer from National/Alamo rental cars. They all come stock with a 2" receiver and a wiring hook up. I do this all the time in CA to tow around sailboats, just plug in your hitch and start driving!

The trailblazer has a 5500 lb towing capacity.
