hey strick- thanx for posting up the pix- looks like y'all had a great time. those are some cool looking little sharks,leopard????. Nice to see what you guys are catching on the left coast!!!! I see y'all catch them ol rockfish too!!!!lol (striped bass, i know you have a rockfish totally seperate species too. thanx again for the pix- craig

as there were three leopard sharks in one of those pix, I presume you eat them? if so, how are they??

I used to catch a lot of them between Tiburon and Sausalito in my sailing days but never thought of consuming them...I always figured they'd flush their system with uric (sp?) acid like every other shark when hooked.

A friend of mine who ownes a bait shop told me to gut them as soon as you get them on the boat which is what we did however I dont think it helped much. We barbequed them that evening and I have to say that I wont be keeping anymore leopard sharks! The meat was OK but not worth all the trouble to prepare it. These pic's may bring back memories for you. We are in Richards bay in 10 feet of water. I was teaching Lisa how to to reel in fish. we caught 10 bat rays one was about 5 feet wide. She got some good practice!. You can see Alcatraz and the bay bridge in the background. If I close my eyes I can pretend that I am reeling in a Tarpon!

I used to live at the Watergate Marina in Emeryville and sail over to Sausalito for lunch at least once a week. The sail over was memorable but I must admit that I don't have too many clear memories of the return trip - odd how those long lingering lunches and libations in waterfront eateries can cause short term memory loss.... Fun pictures, thanks.
