Motor bracket for 18 ft SeaCraft

Hello guys.......I have 1985 18ft SeaCraft that I am refiting and was thinking about closing in the transom and installing a motor bracket.Any ideas about outboard brackets. Pros and cons........Thanks

I asked the same question about my 20 and the consensus was too much weight too far back, I would imagine the 18 would be far worse than the 20

I think that you can counter the weight by buying a bracket that has a large tub and provides extra floatation.

Don’t waste your time or money. If you want a bigger boat sell the one you have and go by a 20 or 23.

Are you concerned about keeping water out or increasing space. I build a motor well to cure problem of water coming over stern and filling the bilge.

What size motor / weight? I am around 2 18's, the 2 stroke v-4 Yammi has no prob.lighter hull -1989, but the 1987 hull which weighs more, has a 2 stroke V6 and does have the more pronounced weight issue.

By the way, to date, no one on CSC has done a bracket on an 18 for the reasons listed above.
