What is the best material for deck replacement?

I am buying my materials for my restoration of a 71/72 20sf. I would like to get some ideas on what kind of materials I can use to replace my deck other than marine ply. I would be grateful for any ideas from people who have already done this or are in the process.

I used 3/8" Coosa and could not be happier with the results.

I used ½” marine plywood and it worked out just fine as well. If I had to do over again AND I was concerned about weight I would use composite material where you walk and use plywood where you have to screw things into the deck like a t-top, leaning post, and the CC. the composite materials are great for walking but screwing and holding is another story unless the through bolt and that’s not always a option.

I used 7 ply sub-floor plywood, fully wrapped in fiberglass (2 layers on top for durability, 1 layer on the bottom). It is very strong, stiff, and durable, albeit heavier than the original balsa floor.

Kid, I used Penske Composite for deck and bulkheads with great results. But as Ken mentioned, make sure you have plywood backer for anything you want to screw to the deck. Since I was raising the deck height this was no problem.
