Storing the Boat Question

I've just completed moving my family back to Long Island and will not have the time this year to use the boat. So I have a fuel storage question. I filled up the boat last November (with pre Ethanol fuel) and added the necessary stabilizer. Should I be doing anything else to the fuel given the fact that I do not plan on running the boat until next Spring? The fuel will then be 18 months old!
I was thinking of adding more stabilizer. Dink

Re: Storing the Boat Question

Mine sits unused on the lift in Florida for six months every year while I'm in Colorado. I fill the tank up along with the recommended amount of Stabil in it and it has always worked perfect upon my return. Not sure if 18 months would be any different... :D

Re: Storing the Boat Question

Dink,
Go to an auto parts store and buy an in-line 12v
fuel pump and 3/8 or 5/16 fuel line. I mounted one on a piece of wood, with long wire to hook up to 12v source. I pumped out the 8 month old fuel,
and used in my truck. Just disconnect fuel line where ever you can. I did mine at the water seperating filter.
It is a slow process but you can fill up 5 gallon jugs.
See ya, Ken

How well did your truck run burning gas with oil in it?

Re: Storing the Boat Question

No oil. Merc is injected.
But I have used gas mix before in my truck.
Believe it or not the Dodge seemed to run better.
The weed wacker and chain saw would have had a fuel supply for the next 20 years if I had not used it. :D
See ya, Ken

Just think what a great investment that was. Next spring fuel could be $5 bucks!

So everyone believes I should dump the 135 gallons into my cars and start with a fresh ethanol blend next spring?
