found a 89 cc for sale-what to watch out for?
I spoke with a gentleman yesterday who has a 1989 23 cc for sale. Same vintage 200 evinrude and ez roller trailer. No t-top and your basic electronics, asking 14k. I believe this is a tracker boat, any inherent problems with these? What do you think about the asking price? :D

I could be wrong, but that sounds high to me. I say this becase of the year of the engine. I am not syaing that the engine is crap. It may be a great engin. I am saying that the engine probably has a book vale of just a couple of thousand (if that).
If you go to NADA.com you could determine the "book worth". More importantly, what shape is the boat --deck and transom-- and engine in? Once you know this information, you should be in a much better space, in regards to determining the true worth. Peter |

I agree with Pete - and did a quick check for you - NADA says it's worth about 5K, and then I went to Hardcore Marine and priced a couple 88- 89 Yam 200's for just under 3K - so your looking at something much lower than his asking -
Next questions - what were the use of the boat - hardcore offshore fishing, inshore fishing, family fun - stored in water, kept on trailer - if trailered, short haul to the ramp, or long road trips - with / without transom saver, kept covered, inside storage, or sitting out ?? Is the trailer the same vintage? condition? What it boils down to is needing some close inspection and a sea trial - that boat could go anywhere between 5K and maybe 12K max, probably only if it was immaculate and dressed out more than you indicated. my .02 Bill |
Re: found a 89 cc for sale-what to watch out for?
thanks for the input on this boat. I will probably get to see it this weekend. Funny thing is that the owner actually told me that he paid 15k for it when he bought it a few years ago and it does not sound like he put much into it. Maybe it was a slip up on his behalf and maybe not. <font color="orange">

Sounds like you are talking about a hull with trailer for $14K (let's face it, an 18 year old engine isn't worth much in dollar terms regardless of how many hours are on it).

Way too much... The market is flooded with Seacraft's for less money. Check it out I guess, but look at other boats too. I know of 89 tracker scepter with an 89 200 yammi (200 hours on engine) trailer, the guy wants $5k, and you could probably get it for $4k..
