Whitewater suggestions needed.
It's not a seacraft but the skills I need are here. I am thinking of modifying my boat for better use of space. I have no fears of cutting and reconfiguring this boat because I have done it in the past.( Most info and some parts acquired here) What I am looking for at this point are ideas from you guys no matter how crazy. You never know where a good idea will come from.
Here is what I want to do. If you look at the picture, the bulkhead where the cabin door is at is more than halfway back into the boat. It makes the forward part of the boat all cabin and unusable for the way I use it. The plan right now is to cut it out and push the cabin door forward about 2-3 feet. This would still leave ample cabin space to sleep about three. In place of the cabin I would put some sort of seat and livewell combo. I would leave the helm in its current position so no moving of rigging. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y84...water/mod1.jpg This pic is of a Dorado 30, I was thinking something similiar. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y84...aDorado-30.jpg Here is another angle of my boat. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y84...water/mod2.jpg What do you guys think. Lets hear those ideas so I can get started on my winter project. I have been scouring Yachtworld and similar sites for picture ideas and have found some good ones but I need other opinions and fresh minds to bounce ideas off. Thanks in advance and Happy Holidays. |

Bryan,
The Dorado's set up looks pretty cool,I'm sure that would work on your boat.If you use a lot of live bait, the only thing I would caution you on is putting your livewell too far forward. That far forward will really beat your bait up.I put a above deck 40 gallon well just forward of the center console on a 25'boat, which was about midship and the natural movement of the boat just beat the crap out of the bait and put water all over the deck. You are much better off with your well way aft and below deck. |

I have been wanting to snag a Sceptre/Tsunami model and ditch the windshield and make a day boat with a hard top and side curtains. A Potter Bracket with twins would give you all the space you need without chopping the cabin. Here's what I had in mind  http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...ass_launch.jpg |

Love that Bert.
Joey thanks for the heads up, makes sense. Chuck did you notice the Armstrongs? Someone posted pics of a Scepter minus the windshield awhile ago, I think it was from Long Island. Thanks guys, keep the ideas and pics coming. |
