anyone running this set up? is this enough power for this set up? do these boats need trim tabs? any gph at cruise info? :D

I ran a 1987 23 with a t-top and a 200 Yamaha HPDI this past summer and I was suprised how well it ran. The 86 with out the t-top would be 3-4 mph faster. I think I got the 87 up to 46mph and it shot out of the hole

It should do OK, in the old days they were run with single 235 Rudes and did Ok. You probably would want tabs on it, although I not a tab guy but 200 it would probably help. 225 or preferrable 250 but it should just fine.

My 23CC has the original 1989 Yamaha 200 2 stroke. It has a 14" x 17" s/s 3 blade prop. It has good hole shot with a light load (typical) and runs low to mid 40's at WOT. There are no trim tabs, but I will install them for 2007. An entirely adequate set-up.

Your 2003 Evinrude should be great, but without the whiplash factor...

1989 23cc with 90 model 200hp black max merc 14.3/4x19 prop. Good take off with 41 WOT with ttop and tabs up. Les

I checked out this boat over the web.


The owner seemed like a decent enough person.

I don't think that there is any warrantee left on the engine. Some people don't like the pre ETEC evinrudes. I would think that the 2003 would be a good year engine.

Based upon the pictures that I saw the boat seemed pretty clean. It had nice bow cushions I believe.

If my memory is correct there was no t top, not much in way of electronics and the transom seemed to be cut pretty low.

If you are serious about this boat I would spend $250 to $300 and get a professional surveyor to do the following
1. Check out the deck and transom (as well as the hull)
2. Perform both a compression and leak down test on the engine. Also, it would be nice to run run the engine in the water for a test drive.
3. Check out gas tank, wiring/electronics & hydraulic steering.

Wwhat i know is based upon owning my own SeaCraft for the past 2 years and what i have learned on this web site. There are some people on this web site who have an unbelievable amount of knowledge.

I will vouch for the engine, my best friend has been a dealer for 30+yrs and just put an 03 200 on another best friends boat, if it was a great motor he wouldn't have done that. He also picked up at the same time a 250 and 225 which I have mentioned on here and he only has the 225 left, a lady from FS grabbed the 250. I would do excatly as Peter said though, pay someone with knowledge 300 to check it out, the boat and the motor-good advice Peter.
